A Skynews article reported that a former intelligence officer named David Grusch claimed in front of the United States Congress that the government has evidence of extra-terrestrial or “non-human” life recovered from alien vehicles that have crashed down to earth.
Due to claims by whistleblowers about secretive UFO information, the House Oversight Committee decided to have a hearing to review the allegations. This follows the new National Defense and Intelligence Authorization Act, which created a secure system for reporting UFOs and encouraged whistleblowers to come forward with any information they may have.
David Grusch claimed in front of Congress at the hearing that he was involved in efforts to analyze sightings of UAP (unidentified aerial phenomena) vehicles. For context, the US space agency started referring to UFOs as UAPs to avoid connotations found in popular culture. Definitionally, a UAP is not extra-terrestrial but is an object that cannot or hasn’t yet been identified. Grusch claims he also became aware of another secretive program that was working on reconstructing damaged UAP vehicles that had fallen to earth.
The Pentagon denied knowledge about Grusch’s claims and denied the existence of any secret programs. The US government certainly can and has in the past created secret agencies devoted to monitoring UAPs. For example, in 2017 the public became aware of the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, which was kept deliberately secret since its founding in 2007, and was tasked with tracking UAP sightings. The Pentagon claimed it was defunded in 2012, although former employees suggested they continued their work informally beyond that date. Then in 2020, the Pentagon announced the formation of the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force, which monitors UAPs that could pose a national security threat. In 2022, this changed to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office. This new office identified the issue of a lack of comprehensive data and tracking in correctly identifying UAPs.
The Pentagon also pointed to the lack of evidence for extraterrestrial spacecraft in any investigations that had been done by the government. A report released in June 2022 from the National Intelligence Office suggested that there were incidents of UAPs that “appear to have demonstrated unusual flight characteristics or performance capabilities,” and which were not able to be identified. However, they also suggested there was no positive evidence that any of these unidentified objects were extraterrestrial in origin.
A potential issue with Grusch’s claims is that he is technically barred from disclosing anything secret or classified. When Grusch was pressed on details he
suggested, “As a former intelligence officer, I go to jail for revealing classified information.” It might be reasonable to assume he would have been similarly barred from disclosing information about the program he claimed was working to reverse-engineer alien spacecraft. It is possible then, that the US government doesn’t have any conclusive evidence of spacecraft or non-human biological materials, and that Grusch is mistaken.
